In the third round of the Copa Argentina, Acassuso showed no mercy to Newell’s, clinching a 2-0 win on Sunday. The scoring opened up with Martín Schlotthauer netting the first goal in the 20th minute of the first half. Later, Nahuel Petillo doubled the lead in the 74th minute, sealing the triumph for Acassuso.
Newell’s had a chance to reduce the deficit in the 77th minute when Luciano Herrera struck the post, leaving them without a goal to show for their efforts.
Despite attempting 20 shots towards the goal, with 13 hitting the target and 6 going wide, Newell’s could not find the back of the net.
The standout player of the match was César Atamañuk, the Acassuso goalkeeper, who made crucial saves, denying Newell’s with 8 stops throughout the encounter.
Additionally, Martín Schlotthauer also shone for Acassuso, contributing with a goal.
