This Saturday, Chivas emerged victorious against CF Monterrey with a score of 3-2 in what was an exhilarating encounter during the 12th matchweek of the Clausura. The defeat left Monterrey’s head coach, Nicolás Sánchez, feeling deeply disappointed. Goals from Uros Durdevic (42’ 2T) and Ricardo Chávez (47’ 2T) were not enough to overcome the impressive strikes from Armando González (17’ 1T), José Castillo (0’ 2T), and Bryan González (9’ 2T) that propelled Chivas to victory.
Bryan González earned accolades for his remarkable goal just 9 minutes into the second half, with an assist from Richard Ledezma, striking the ball into the top right corner of the opposing goalkeeper’s net.
CF Monterrey, despite having a higher number of attempts with 22 shots compared to Chivas’ 12, struggled to find the back of the net effectively. Out of their shots, only 7 were on target, while one hit the post and 12 went wide.
In a tense moment during injury time, Uros Durdevic failed to convert a penalty in the 97th minute, missing a chance that could have brought Monterrey back into the match.
José Castillo notably excelled in defense for Chivas, scoring one goal and successfully clearing three dangerous balls from Monterrey’s offense.
RAúl Rangel also stood out in goal for Chivas, making key saves against 6 shots from CF Monterrey, demonstrating his skill and composure under pressure.
On the tactical side, Nicolás Sánchez set up Monterrey in a 4-4-2 formation with Luis Cárdenas as goalkeeper; Ricardo Chávez, Carlos Salcedo, Gerardo Arteaga, and Luis Reyes in defense; Luca Orellano, Fidel Ambriz, Jorge Rodríguez, and Cristian Reyes in midfield; and Uros Durdevic alongside Roberto De La Rosa upfront.
On the other hand, coach Gabriel Milito deployed Chivas in a 3-6-1 setup, featuring Raúl Rangel in goal; Diego Campillo, José Castillo, and Bryan González in defense; Richard Ledezma, Omar Govea, Fernando González, Daniel Aguirre, Ángel Sepúlveda, and Roberto Alvarado in midfield; with Armando González leading the attack.
Match referee Víctor Cáceres Hernández ensured the smooth conduct of the game throughout.
In their next fixtures, CF Monterrey will host Atlético San Luis, while Chivas prepare to face Pumas UNAM at home.
Currently, Monterrey stands in ninth place in the standings with 14 points, whereas Chivas sit at the top with 30 points.
