Columbus Crew left BMO Field frustrated after narrowly losing to Toronto FC by just one goal in an intense match for Week 5 of the MLS season. The Crew started strong, taking the lead just 3 minutes into the first half with a header from Wessam Abou Ali. However, Toronto FC changed the course of the game with a comeback that delighted their fans.
Toronto equalized with a powerful shot from José Cifuentes just 10 minutes into the second half, leveling the score. The excitement peaked when Walker Zimmerman scored a thrilling header in the 82nd minute, connecting with a corner from Djordje Mihailovic and placing the ball into the right side of the net, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
Columbus had a chance to extend their lead earlier in the match, but Diego Rossi’s shot hit the post in the 51st minute, leaving them to regret missed opportunities.
José Cifuentes was recognized as the standout player of the match, contributing one goal for Toronto FC. Walker Zimmerman also played a pivotal role, scoring a goal and clearing two dangerous balls from his area.
