During the 11th round of the Colombian league, the match between the Diablos Rojos and Vinotinto y Oro ended in a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero.
Tolima took the lead in the 12th minute of the first half with a goal from Adrián Parra. However, América de Cali fought back, equalizing with a goal from Mateo Castillo just minutes after the start of the second half, in the 56th minute.
Tolima’s midfielder, Juan Pablo Torres, had a chance to double the lead but missed a penalty in the 46th minute of the first half, which proved crucial as the teams remained level.
Mateo Castillo was undoubtedly the standout performer of the match, contributing to his team’s score and making significant defensive contributions by clearing three dangerous balls.
Goalkeeper Neto Volpi was also impressive for Tolima, making four important saves that helped secure a point for his team.
América’s coach, David González, opted for a 4-4-2 formation, featuring Jean Fernandes in goal; a defense consisting of Mateo Castillo, Marlon Torres, Nicolás Hernández, and Omar Bertel; and a midfield made up of Jan Lucumi, Rafael Carrascal, Josen Escobar, and Jhon Palacios, with Jorge Daniel Valencia and Yeison Guzmán leading the attack.
On the other hand, Lucas González’s Tolima lined up in a 4-5-1 formation, with Neto Volpi as the goalkeeper; Cristian Arrieta, Juan José Mera, Kelvin Flórez, and Junior Hernández in defense; Sebastián Guzmán, Brayan Rovira, Jersson González, Juan Pablo Torres, and Adrián Parra in midfield; and Luis Sandoval up front.
