In the seventh round of the Clausura, Cruz Azul proved to be a formidable host, claiming victory against Chivas this Sunday. The first breakthrough for Cruz Azul came at the 33rd minute of the first half, when Gabriel Fernández headed the ball past the opposing goalkeeper, giving his team the lead.
However, Chivas responded with a surprise equalizer just three minutes after the start of the second half, when Carlos Rodríguez found the net with a clever shot following a header, sealing the final score at 2-1 in the 39th minute of the same half.
Chivas nearly leveled the match again, with Hugo Camberos striking the post with a powerful shot that could have changed the outcome.
Carlos Rodríguez emerged as the standout player of the match, showcasing his skills by scoring one goal and contributing significantly to the team’s efforts. Gabriel Fernández also had an impressive game, netting a goal and taking two shots.
Cruz Azul’s coach, Nicolás Larcamón, set up the team in a 3-4-3 formation, with Andrés Gudiño in goal; a defensive line of Willer Ditta, Erik Lira, and Gonzalo Piovi; midfielders Jorge Rodarte, Agustín Palavecino, Jeremy Márquez, and Rodolfo Rotondi; and the attacking trio of José Paradela, Gabriel Fernández, and Carlos Rodríguez.
On the other side, coach Gabriel Milito also opted for a 3-4-3 setup, featuring Raúl Rangel as the goalkeeper; Daniel Aguirre, Diego Campillo, and José Castillo in defense; Richard Ledezma, Omar Govea, Fernando González, and Bryan González in the midfield; and a forward line of Roberto Alvarado, Efraín Álvarez, and Armando González.
The match was officiated by Maximiliano Quintero Hernández at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc.
