In the opening week of the MLS, Sam Surridge shone brightly, scoring two goals that propelled Nashville SC to a 4-1 triumph against New England Revolution. The home team’s goals came from Surridge (5’ 1T and 15’ 1T), Hany Mukhtar (38’ 1T), and Warren Madrigal (49’ 2T), while the lone visitor goal was netted by Leonardo Campana (46’ 2T).
A standout moment of the match occurred when Campana scored just after the halftime break. After receiving a cross from Carles Gil, he managed to find the back of the net from inside the box.
Nashville’s Surridge was rightfully named Man of the Match, showcasing his talents with two goals and four shots on target during the match.
Warren Madrigal also played a crucial role, contributing significantly with a goal and two shots on target.
Coach B. J. Callaghan deployed a 4-3-3 formation for Nashville, featuring Brian Schwake in goal; a defensive line of Andy Nájar, Maxwell Woledzi, Jeisson Palacios, and Daniel Lovitz; a midfield trio consisting of Patrick Yazbek, Edvard Tagseth, and Madrigal; and an attacking front with Cristian Espinoza, Surridge, and Mukhtar.
On the other side, New England Revolution, commanded by Marko Mitrovic, also opted for a 4-3-3 arrangement, with Matt Turner as goalkeeper; a defensive unit of Ethan Kohler, Keegan Hughes, Andrew Farrell, and Will Sands; a midfield made up of Matt Polster, Carles Gil, and Brooklyn Raines; and an attacking trio of Griffin Yow, Campana, and Dor Turgeman.

Looking ahead, Nashville SC will travel to face FC Dallas, while New England Revolution will head to New York to take on the Red Bulls.
