In the 24th round of La Liga, Real Betis overcame the challenge posed by Mallorca, winning 2-1 in a match held at the Mallorca Son Moix Stadium. The outing began with an early goal from Abde Ezzalzouli, who found the net in the 17th minute, giving Betis a 1-0 lead. Just before the halftime whistle, Cédric Bakambu extended the lead to 2-0 in the 46th minute.
Despite Mallorca’s resilience, with Vedat Muriqi scoring a well-placed header in the 65th minute to bring the score to 2-1, they couldn’t find an equalizer before time ran out. Muriqi’s goal was a result of a precise pass from Sergi Darder, ending in a stunning finish to the left corner.
Early in the first half, Marc Roca’s shot hit the post, which could have given Betis a crucial advantage. However, even with Mallorca dominating possession at 61%, Betis made their opportunities count with clinical precision.
Abde Ezzalzouli was undoubtedly the standout player, contributing significantly with a goal, four shots on target, and completing 14 successful passes. Another notable performance came from Antony, who managed three shots and completed 31 passes, helping his team maintain control when needed.
Mallorca’s forward Vedat Muriqi also impressed the crowd with an impressive nutmeg on defender Aitor Ruibal in the 62nd minute, showcasing his skillful play. The tactical setup for Mallorca, led by coach Jagoba Arrasate, featured a 4-5-1 formation with Leo Román in goal and Muriqi as the lone striker.
Meanwhile, Betis, under Manuel Pellegrini, fielded a 4-3-3 formation with Álvaro Valles in goal and a strong attacking trio comprising Antony, Cédric Bakambu, and Abde Ezzalzouli.
The match was officiated by Isidro Díaz de Mera Escuderos.
Looking ahead, Mallorca will travel to face Celta, while Betis will return home to take on Rayo Vallecano. As it stands, Mallorca sits in 18th place in the league with 24 points, whereas Betis climbs to 5th with 41 points.
