In a thrilling match on Saturday, Talleres secured a 2-1 victory against Gimnasia (Mendoza) during the fifth round of the Apertura. The match was lit up by an outstanding performance from Valentín Dávila, who opened the scoring with a powerful shot in the 36th minute of the first half.
Gimnasia (Mendoza) managed to briefly level the game when Agustín Módica found the back of the net just before halftime in the 44th minute. However, Dávila struck again at the 67th minute, sealing the win for Talleres with his second goal.
Despite the lead, Talleres had an opportunity to extend their advantage late in the game. Alex Vigo came close to adding a third goal but hit the post in the 87th minute.
Valentín Dávila was undoubtedly the star of the match, scoring both goals for Talleres and showcasing his ability with two attempts on target. Giovanni Baroni also made a significant impact with three shots on goal.
Defensively, Santiago Fernández made a noteworthy play, skillfully dribbling past Luciano Paredes of Gimnasia (Mendoza) with a clever move in the 64th minute.
Talleres head coach Carlos Tévez implemented a 4-4-2 formation, featuring Guido Herrera in goal; Augusto Schott, Matías Catalán, Santiago Fernández, and Gabriel Báez in defense; Giovanni Baroni, Matías Galarza, Juan Sforza, and Mateo Cáceres in midfield; and Ronaldo Martínez alongside Bruno Barticciotto up front.
Meanwhile, Gimnasia (Mendoza), managed by Ariel Broggi, also adopted a 4-4-2 formation with César Rigamonti in goal; Juan José Franco, Diego Mondino, Ezequiel Muñoz, and Matías Recalde in defense; Luciano Paredes, Ulises Sánchez, Nahuel Barboza, and Facundo Lencioni in midfield; and Valentino Simoni and Agustín Módica leading the attack.
Match referee Darío Herrera was in charge of the proceedings.
Talleres will look to build on this win as they prepare to visit Rosario Central in their next match, while Gimnasia (Mendoza) will host their next game at the Víctor Antonio Legrotaglie Stadium.
