On Tuesday, Banfield secured a crucial 2-1 victory against Estudiantes (RC) in the third round of the Apertura. The match saw Estudiantes (RC) take an early lead with a splendid goal by Martín Garnerone in the 14th minute of the first half. However, Banfield displayed resilience and managed to turn the game around with a goal from Lautaro Gómez in the 56th minute, followed by a late clincher from Mauro Méndez in the 88th minute, sealing the victory.
Throughout the match, Estudiantes (RC) came close to extending their lead with two shots from Tomás González, both of which struck the post, leaving him frustrated.
Mauro Méndez was the standout performer of the evening, netting a goal and taking three shots on target. His contribution, along with Lautaro Gómez’s performance, who also scored and attempted two shots, proved vital for Banfield.
