Lanús claimed a hard-fought victory against Unión in a match played on Thursday at the Estadio La Fortaleza. The scoring was opened by Ramiro Carrera, who struck from a play shortly after halftime, giving Lanús the lead in the 47th minute of the first half. However, they were not satisfied with a single goal, and Marcelino Moreno increased their advantage just 10 minutes into the second half.
Unión did manage to reduce the deficit at the 65th minute with a goal from Cristian Tarragona, following a well-executed play.
Ramiro Carrera ignited the crowd with his impressive goal just before halftime. He unleashed a powerful shot that left Unión’s goalkeeper Matías Mansilla no chance after receiving a well-placed cross from Rodrigo Castillo.
Rodrigo Castillo stood out as the star of the match, attempting two shots on target and contributing significantly to Lanús’ offensive efforts.
In defense, José Canale was crucial, clearing five dangerous balls from the area.
Lanús’ head coach, Mauricio Pellegrino, deployed a 4-5-1 formation with Nahuel Losada in goal; a defensive line of Tomás Guidara, Carlos Izquierdoz, José Canale, and Sasha Marcich; a midfield consisting of Agustín Medina, Agustín Cardozo, Eduardo Salvio, Marcelino Moreno, and Ramiro Carrera; and Rodrigo Castillo leading the attack.
On the other hand, Unión’s coach, Leonardo Madelón, opted for a 4-4-2 system, placing Matías Mansilla between the posts, with Lautaro Vargas, Alex Maizon Rodriguez, Valentín Fascendini, and Bruno Pittón forming the defense; a midfield of Julián Palacios, Mauro Pittón, Rafael Profini, and Mateo Del Blanco; and Agustín Colazo and Cristian Tarragona up front.
The match was officiated by referee Fernando Espinoza.
Looking ahead, Lanús will visit Instituto in their next match, while Unión will host Gimnasia (Mendoza) at the Estadio 15 de abril.
