In a resounding win for Fluminense in the 36th round of the Brasileirao, striker Agustín Canobbio found the net twice, leading his team to a dominant 6-0 victory over São Paulo. Canobbio opened the scoring with a penalty in the 8th minute, followed by goals from Mattheus Martinelli (15’), Nonato (23’), John Kennedy (24’), and Kevin Serna (41’). The highlight was undoubtedly John Kennedy’s exquisite finish at 24 minutes into the second half, after a brilliant assist from Kevin Serna.
Canobbio was close to adding to his tally just before half-time in the 44th minute, but his shot hit the woodwork.
Kevin Serna had a standout performance, contributing with one goal, three shots, and two key passes.
Not to be overlooked, Agustín Canobbio also had an outstanding match, scoring two goals and taking four shots overall.
Under the guidance of coach Luis Zubeldía, Fluminense lined up in a tactical 4-3-3 formation, with Fábio as goalkeeper; Samuel Xavier, Thiago Silva, Juan Freytes, and Renê as defenders; Hércules, Mattheus Martinelli, and Luciano Acosta in midfield; and Kevin Serna, Everaldo, and Agustín Canobbio in attack.
On the other side, coach Hernán Crespo deployed São Paulo in a 3-5-2 formation, featuring Young in goal; Nahuel Ferraresi, Alan Franco, and Luiz Gustavo in defense; Maik, Marcos Antônio, Damián Bobadilla, Pablo Maia, and Lucca Marques in the midfield; and Gonzalo Tapia and Emiliano Rigoni upfront.
Referee Lucas Torezin oversaw the match.
Looking ahead, Fluminense’s next match will be an away fixture against Grêmio, while São Paulo will host Internacional at home.
With this victory, Fluminense rises to 5th place in the league standings with 58 points, while São Paulo remains in 8th place with 48 points.
