In the fifth matchday of Group A, Surinam showcased their dominance with an impressive 4-0 win over El Salvador. The match, held at the Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed stadium, saw Richonell Margaret score two stunning goals within minutes in the second half, specifically at the 28th and 30th minutes. The game was also bolstered by Tjaronn Chery’s penalty kick in the 43rd minute of the first half and Dhoraso Klas’s goal in the second half at the 37th minute.
Margaret’s exceptional performance not only secured him the title of the standout player of the match but also underlined his ability to find the back of the net, having attempted two shots on target as well.
Dhoraso Klas also made a notable contribution with his goal, adding to Surinam’s impressive tally.
Head coach Stanley Menzo opted for a 3-6-1 formation, featuring goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen; defenders Kenneth Paal, Leo Abena, and Shaquille Pinas; and a midfield consisting of Radinio Balker, Tjaronn Chery, Djavan Anderson, Ridgeciano Haps, Jean-Paul Boëtius, and Sheraldo Becker, with Richonell Margaret leading the attack.
On the other hand, El Salvador, managed by Hernán Darío Gómez, took to the field with a 4-3-3 setup, including Mario González in goal and defenders Jefferson Valladares, Julio Sibrián, Adán Clímaco, and Ronald Rodríguez. Their midfield consisted of Brayan Landaverde, Mauricio Cerritos, and Herberth Díaz, leaving Rafael Tejada, Brayan Gil, and Jairo Henriquez up front.
Oshane Nation officiated the match, which saw several yellow cards, including Kenneth Paal receiving one for unsportsmanlike conduct in the 34th minute.
Looking ahead, Surinam will face Guatemala away in their next match, while El Salvador is set to play against Panama in an away fixture.
