Belgrano secured a vital win against the Xeneize in their match corresponding to the 13th round of the Clausura. The home team’s only goal came from Exequiel Zeballos in the 66th minute, while Boca Juniors’ Lucas Passerini scored from the penalty spot in the 57th minute and Leandro Paredes unfortunately netted an own goal just minutes later, sealing the victory for Belgrano.
A key moment in the match was Zeballos’ goal at the 66-minute mark. After receiving a well-placed cross from Miguel Ángel Merentiel, the forward unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the area, leaving the rival goalkeeper with no chance to intervene.
Boca Juniors had numerous opportunities but were left frustrated in their attempts to find the equalizer. Notably, Milton Giménez hit the post in a dramatic attempt in the dying moments of the match, specifically in the 93rd minute.
Despite Boca Juniors’ dominance in shots on goal, with a total of 18 attempts, they could not turn the tide in their favor, ultimately falling short of victory.
Exequiel Zeballos was undoubtedly the standout player of the night, contributing one goal, four shots on target, and completing nine successful passes.
Another notable performer for Boca was Miguel Ángel Merentiel, who made four attempts on goal and provided 21 accurate passes during the match.
The Boca Juniors coach, Claudio Úbeda, set up his team in a 4-4-2 formation, featuring Agustín Marchesín in goal; a defensive line of Juan Ignacio Barinaga, Lautaro Di Lollo, Ayrton Costa, and Lautaro Blanco; with Brian Aguirre, Leandro Paredes, Rodrigo Battaglia, and Carlos Palacios in midfield; and an attacking duo of Miguel Ángel Merentiel and Milton Giménez.
Meanwhile, Belgrano, guided by Ricardo Zielinski, opted for a 5-3-2 strategy, with Thiago Cardozo in goal; a backline of Gabriel Compagnucci, Leonardo Morales, Alexis Maldonado, Lisandro López, and Adrián Spörle; Lucas Zelarayán, Rodrigo Saravia, and Francisco González Metilli controlling the midfield; and Nicolás Fernández and Lucas Passerini leading the front.
The match was officiated by referee Pablo Dóvalo.
Next up for the Xeneize will be a challenging away match against Barracas Central, while Belgrano prepares to host Tigre at the Julio César Villagra Stadium.
