The hosts took the lead with goals from Alexander Díaz in the 37th minute and Jonathan Herrera in the 54th. However, the visitors equalized with Lisandro Magallán striking just before halftime in the 45th minute and a fortunate own goal from Mateo Ramírez in the 82nd.
Despite enjoying significant ball possession, averaging 69%, Vélez struggled to convert this into goal-scoring opportunities, leaving them without a full three points.

Riestra in a 5-3-2 formation featuring Ignacio Arce in goal; Nicolás Sansotre, Cristian Paz, Facundo Miño, Miguel Ángel Barbieri, and Pedro Ramírez in defense; Alexander Díaz, Jonatan Goitía, and Pablo Monje in midfield; and the forward partnership of Jonathan Herrera and Antony Alonso.
On the other hand, Guillermo Barros Schelotto employed a 4-5-1 strategy for Vélez, with Tomás Marchiori guarding the net; Agustín Lagos, Lisandro Magallán, Aarón Quirós, and Elías Gómez in defensive roles; a midfield composed of Claudio Baeza, Rodrigo Aliendro, Matías Pellegrini, Tomás Galván, and Francisco Pizzini; and Braian Romero leading the frontline.
