In the 11th round of the Clausura tournament, Gimnasia edged out Sarmiento with a tight victory on Saturday. Marcelo Torres sealed the fate of the match by converting a penalty in the 46th minute of the first half.
Despite the loss, Sarmiento dominated possession with 70% of the ball and unleashed 19 shots, indicating their attacking intent throughout the match.
Sarmiento’s Iván Morales squandered a chance to equalize when he failed to convert a penalty awarded in the 62nd minute of the second half, which could have changed the game’s momentum.
Marcelo Torres was undoubtedly the standout player, not only scoring the crucial goal but also completing 2 successful passes, showcasing his influence on the field.
