Liverpool (U) and Peñarol ended in a 2-2 stalemate at Estadio Belvedere this Saturday, in a match that was part of the seventh round of the Clausura.
Both teams had their fair share of dangerous opportunities. The scoring was opened by Peñarol in the 14th minute with a header from Javier Méndez. Liverpool (U) quickly responded, first equalizing and then momentarily taking the lead with goals from Lucas Acosta in the 18th minute and Abel Hernández in the 34th minute of the first period.
Maximiliano Olivera brought the game back to level terms in the second half by scoring in the 70th minute after a well-executed play.
Peñarol’s forward Maximiliano Silvera had a golden chance to give his team the lead but was denied by the post in the 59th minute of the second half.
