In the 20th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo showcased their dominance against Internacional. The excitement kicked off early when Pedro found the back of the net at the 6th minute of the first half, receiving a cross from Guillermo Varela and delivering a powerful shot that left the opposing goalkeeper with no chance.
Pedro doubled his tally just five minutes later, scoring again to bring the total to 2-0 for Flamengo. The only response from Internacional came when Rafael Santos Borré broke through to score in the 46th minute of the second half, but it was too late to change the outcome of the match.
Both teams had their chances, with Internacional’s Alan Rodríguez and Flamengo’s Léo Pereira hitting the woodwork, denying them goals and leaving the players frustrated.
Pedro’s performance was undoubtedly the highlight of the match, as he netted two goals and took two shots at goal. Additionally, Giorgian De Arrascaeta shone for Flamengo, contributing with two key passes and three shots on goal.
Coach Roger Machado set up Internacional in a 4-5-1 formation, with Anthoni in goal; Alan Benítez, Clayton Sampaio, Victor Gabriel, and Braian Aguirre forming the defense; Richard, Bruno Henrique, Vitinho, Rafael Santos Borré, and Gustavo Prado in midfield; and Enner Valencia leading the attack.
On the other hand, Flamengo, led by Filipe Kasmirski, also deployed a 4-5-1 tactical setup with Agustín Rossi guarding the net; Guillermo Varela, Léo Ortiz, Léo Pereira, and Ayrton Lucas in defense; Jorginho, Saúl Ñíguez, Luiz Araújo, Giorgian De Arrascaeta, and Samuel Lino in midfield; and Pedro as the striker.
The match referee was Rodrigo Pereira de Lima.
Looking ahead, Internacional will face Cruzeiro in their next match, while Flamengo will host Vitória at the Jornalista Mário Filho Stadium. Currently, Internacional sits in 12th place with 24 points, while Flamengo reaches 43 points, taking the lead in the tournament.
