Atlanta United and Seattle Sounders played to a thrilling 2-2 draw during Week 22 of the MLS on Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The home team saw goals from Aleksei Miranchuk (53’ second half) and Yeimar Gómez (6’ first half, own goal). Meanwhile, Seattle’s goals were delivered by Pedro De La Vega (53’ second half) and Osaze de Rosario (49’ second half).
The visitors took the lead with an impressive play at the 53rd minute, spearheaded by Pedro De La Vega who expertly controlled a cross from Yeimar Gómez and found the back of the net, beating goalkeeper Bradley Guzan.
Seattle Sounders also posed a threat earlier in the match with a striking effort from Luke Brennan, which rattled the post in the 40th minute of the first half.
Aleksei Miranchuk was undoubtedly the standout performer of the game, scoring one goal and attempting four shots on target, energizing the Atlanta crowd.
Osaze de Rosario also made an impact for Seattle Sounders, registering one goal and taking two shots during the match.
Atlanta’s head coach, Ronny Deila, opted for a 4-5-1 formation featuring Brad Guzan as goalkeeper, supported by defenders Ronald Hernández, Stian Gregersen, Derrick Williams, and Pedro Amador. The midfield comprised Bartosz Slisz, Tristan Muyumba, Miguel Ángel Almirón, Aleksei Miranchuk, and Luke Brennan, while Emmanuel Latte Lath led the attack.
On the other hand, Brian Schmetzer’s Seattle team also deployed a 4-5-1 formation with Andrew Thomas in goal, supported by Alexander Roldan, Yeimar Gómez, Jackson Ragen, and Reed Baker-Whiting in defense. The midfield included Obed Vargas, Cristian Roldan, Jesús Ferreira, Albert Rusnák, and Pedro De La Vega, with Danny Musovski upfront.
Ramy Touchan officiated the match at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Looking ahead, Atlanta’s next fixture is against Inter Miami, while Seattle will take on LA Galaxy in their upcoming outing.
