In the third round of the first division, the Orange Team secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Mighty of the Mountain on Thursday. Midfielder Daniel Arcila stole the show with a stunning hat-trick. Local goals were scored by José Ortiz at the 46th minute of the first half and Francisco Fydriszewski, who converted two penalties at the 39th and 44th minutes of the second half. Didier Palacios found the net for the visitors at the 11th minute, while Arcila scored three times throughout the match at the 25th (penalty), 29th (penalty), and 40th minutes.
Arcila received accolades for his brilliant long-range shot at the 40th minute of the second half, producing a sensational goal that left the opposing goalkeeper with no chance.
Independiente Medellín’s Brayan León struck the woodwork twice, leaving the forward frustrated as his efforts went unrewarded.
Despite dominating with a total of 27 shots compared to Envigado’s 10, Medellín could not find the back of the net sufficiently; only 9 of their attempts were on target, with 2 hitting the post and 13 going off target.
Defender Didier Palacios also delivered an outstanding performance, scoring one goal and making 10 crucial clearances.
Coach Alejandro Restrepo fielded Independiente Medellín in a 3-4-3 formation with Washington Aguerre in goal; Leyser Chaverra, José Ortiz, and Daniel Londoño in defense; Esneyder Mena, Jaime Alvarado, Baldomero Perlaza, and Yeferson Rodallega in midfield; and Mender García, Francisco Fydriszewski, and Luis Sandoval leading the attack.
On the other hand, coach Andrés Orozco set up his side in a 4-5-1 formation with Andrés Tovar as the goalkeeper; Gendry Cuervo, Didier Palacios, Jhon Gamboa, and Brayan Murillo in the backline; Leandro Angulo, Edison López, Frey Berrio, Daniel Arcila, and Luis Diaz in midfield; and Bayron Garcés up front.
Referee Carlos Ortega Jaimes was in charge of officiating the match.
In the upcoming fixture, the Mighty of the Mountain will travel to face U. Magdalena, while the Orange Team will host La Equidad.
As it stands, the locals sit in the 17th position with just 1 point, whereas the visitors occupy the 7th spot with 4 points.
