Tigre secured a vital victory at their home ground in a match played on Sunday for the second round of the Clausura. The home side took the lead with their first goal under coach Jabes Saralegui, scoring in the 52nd minute of the second half. However, Argentinos Juniors responded quickly, equalizing with a goal from Sebastián Prieto just three minutes later.
Despite the equalizer, the drama continued as Ignacio Russo found the back of the net for Tigre in stoppage time at the 90th minute. A brilliant play unfolded when Sebastián Medina delivered a precise cross that Russo skillfully controlled before shooting past Diego Rodríguez.
Argentinos Juniors struggled to convert their ball possession, which stood at an impressive 65%, into tangible results on the scoreboard.
Earlier in the match, Tigre’s Diego Sosa had the opportunity to take the lead but unfortunately failed to score from the penalty spot in the 24th minute of the first half.
Ignacio Russo was undoubtedly the standout player of the match, contributing significantly with one goal, three attempts at goal, and eight successful passes.
Tomás Molina also showed his skills, taking six shots on target for Argentinos Juniors and completing twelve successful passes during the game.
Tigre’s coach, Diego Dabove, opted for a 4-4-2 formation featuring Felipe Zenobio in goal; Martín Ortega, Joaquín Laso, Tomás Cardona, and Diego Sosa in defense; Jabes Saralegui, Santiago González, Bruno Leyes, and Elías Cabrera in midfield; along with Blas Armoa and Ignacio Russo up front.
On the other hand, Nicolás Diez’s team lined up in a 4-5-1 formation with Diego Rodríguez as the goalkeeper; Leandro Lozano, Francisco Álvarez, Erik Godoy, and Sebastián Prieto in defense; Joaquín Gho, Federico Fattori, Nicolás Oroz, Emiliano Viveros, and Ismael Sosa in midfield; and Tomás Molina leading the attack.
The match was officiated by referee Sebastián Zunino at the Estadio Don José Dellagiovanna.
