A hard-fought draw concluded with a 1-1 scoreline between Sporting Kansas City and New York City FC at Children’s Mercy Park, during the 21st week of the MLS season.
New York City FC’s forward Andrés Perea ignited the game with an exceptional strike in the 21st minute of the first half. Receiving an assist from Maximiliano Moralez just outside the penalty area, Perea unleashed a powerful shot that found the bottom right corner of the net, sending the home fans into a frenzy.
Sporting Kansas City’s Daniel Salloi brought his team level in the 73rd minute of the second half. Salloi showcased his standout performance throughout the match, not only scoring but also taking three shots on target.
Defensively, Justin Haak was a key player for New York City FC, effectively clearing five dangerous balls away from his goal area, ensuring his team remained in contention.
Sporting KC’s manager, Kerry Zavagnin, opted for a 4-3-3 formation, featuring John Pulskamp in goal, alongside a defensive line of Andrew Brody, Jansen Miller, Joaquín Fernández, and Logan Ndenbe.
