In a compelling display, Juventude secured a 2-0 win against Sport Recife, thanks to a remarkable brace from forward Gilberto during their match on Monday in the 13th round of the Brasileirao.
Gilberto opened the scoring with a powerful header just 11 minutes into the match, showcasing his talent early on. He later added a second goal in the 48th minute, effectively sealing the deal for Juventude.
Sport Recife, meanwhile, had plenty of chances to score, with Rafael Thyere hitting the post in the 54th minute, denying them a chance to reduce the deficit.
Despite dominating the shot count with 20 attempts (12 on target, 1 off the post, and 7 wide), Sport Recife couldn’t convert their opportunities, which ultimately led to their defeat against Juventude.
Among the standout players, Reginaldo of Juventude made significant contributions, clearing three dangerous balls from his area, earning him the title of the match’s most valuable player.
Gilberto also shone brightly, not just for his two goals but for his overall performance, which included three shots on goal.
Juventude’s coach, Claudio Tencati, set up his team in a 4-3-3 formation, with Gustavo in goal; Reginaldo, Wilker Ángel, Marcos Paulo, and Marcelo Hermes in defense; Luis Mandaca, Hudson, and Jádson in midfield; and Emerson Batalla, Gilberto, and Gabriel Taliari leading the attack.
On the other hand, Sport Recife, under the management of Daniel Barion, lined up in a 4-4-2 formation with Gabriel Vasconcelos as their goalkeeper; Matheus Alexandre, Rafael Thyere, Chico, and Igor Cariús in defense; Zé Lucas, Christian Rivera, Sérgio Oliveira, and Lucas Lima in midfield; alongside strikers Chrystian Barletta and Gonçalo Paciência.
The match was officiated by referee Jefferson Ferreira de Moraes at the Alfredo Jaconi Stadium.
Looking ahead, Juventude will play away against Cruzeiro, while Sport Recife will host Botafogo in their next match.
With this victory, Juventude now has 11 points in the league and sits in 17th place, while Sport Recife remains at the bottom of the table with just 3 points.
