In the opening match of the season, Argentinos Juniors and Boca Juniors battled to a stalemate on Sunday at Estadio el Semillero del Mundo.
Despite Argentinos Juniors registering the highest number of attempts on goal throughout the match with a total of 15 shots, they could not break the deadlock against Boca Juniors.
The standout performer was Federico Fattori, whose impressive display included 80 successful passes, earning him recognition as the MVP of the match.
Equally exceptional was Boca Juniors’ goalkeeper, Agustín Marchesín, who made four crucial saves and completed 24 accurate passes, maintaining his team’s clean sheet.
One of the highlights of the match came in the 65th minute when Nicolás Oroz left Rodrigo Battaglia, a midfielder for Boca, bewildered with a spectacular nutmeg, showcasing his skill.
Argentinos Juniors lined up in a 4-5-1 formation, with Diego Rodríguez in goal; Leandro Lozano, Francisco Álvarez, Erik Godoy, and Sebastián Prieto in defense; Fattori, Ismael Sosa, Alan Lescano, Oroz, and Emiliano Viveros across the midfield; and Tomás Molina leading the attack.
On the other side, Boca Juniors, managed by Miguel Ángel Russo, opted for the same 4-5-1 setup, featuring Marchesín as the keeper; Luis Advíncula, Nicolás Figal, Marco Pellegrino, and Lautaro Blanco in the back line; Williams Alarcón, Battaglia, Malcom Braida, Carlos Palacios, and Alan Velasco in midfield; and Miguel Ángel Merentiel up front.
The officiating was handled by Ariel Penel.
Looking ahead, Argentinos will face Tigre in their next match, while Boca Juniors will host Unión at Estadio Alberto J. Armando.
