In an intense match held on Sunday as part of the 12th game of the Copa Argentina, Independiente triumphed over Gimnasia (Mendoza) with a 2-1 scoreline. Diego Mondino put the home team ahead in the 29th minute with a well-placed shot. However, the visitors fought back, equalizing through a penalty kick and then taking the lead with goals from Santiago Montiel in the 52nd minute and Álvaro Angulo in the 88th minute of the match.
Álvaro Angulo was named the best player of the match, displaying an impressive performance that included scoring a goal and making three crucial defensive clearances.
Diego Mondino also shone for Gimnasia (Mendoza), contributing significantly to his team’s efforts by not only scoring but also clearing seven dangerous balls, showcasing his defensive prowess.
Facundo Lencioni stood out for his skillful play, embarrassing his mark with a spectacular nutmeg just before the halftime break at the 42-minute mark.
