In a thrilling encounter on Thursday, Liverpool (U) managed to secure a narrow 3-2 victory against Peñarol in the Group A of the Intermedio tournament. The match was a rollercoaster ride of emotions as Liverpool responded effectively after being caught off guard twice by Peñarol’s players, Maximiliano Silvera at the 48th minute of the first half and David Terans at the 17th minute of the second half.
Despite the two setbacks, Liverpool showed remarkable resilience. The squad turned the situation around with goals from Hugo Quintana (3’ into the second half), Abel Hernández (8’ into the second half), and Nicolás Vallejo (12’ into the second half), showcasing their attacking prowess.
Peñarol had their chances to add to their scoreline, firing off 18 shots, of which 12 were on target, but unfortunately, their shooting accuracy let them down.
Abel Hernández stood out as the man of the match, contributing a crucial goal for Liverpool (U). Nicolás Vallejo also proved to be instrumental, getting on the scoresheet.
