This Sunday, Pumas UNAM celebrated a convincing 3-1 win against Mazatlán in the 14th round of the Clausura. The scoring opened early when Robert Morales netted a goal just 4 minutes into the first half. Juninho Vieira followed suit, extending the lead with another goal at the 14-minute mark. Mazatlán managed to narrow the gap thanks to a powerful shot from Josué Ovalle in the 35th minute. However, they could not turn the tide and ultimately fell 3-1 after Guillermo Martínez scored again in the 67th minute.
Robert Morales received praise for his skillful finish early in the match. After a well-placed cross from Alan Medina, Morales struck the ball into the net, putting Pumas ahead right from the start.
Mazatlán had a golden opportunity to score again in the dying moments, but Fábio Gomes’ shot in the 94th minute hit the post, leaving them without a second goal.
Guillermo Martínez was a standout player, contributing significantly with one goal and three shots taken during the match.
Pumas’ defense, led by Nathanael Ananias, played a crucial role in maintaining their lead, showcasing strong defensive skills throughout the game.
