In a tightly contested clash at Miami Freedom Park on Saturday, Inter Miami and New York Red Bulls ended the match in a 2-2 deadlock during Week 7 of the MLS.
The game kicked off with New York Red Bulls taking the lead in the 14th minute, thanks to a well-executed goal by Jorge Ruvalcaba. However, Inter Miami quickly equalized and even took a temporary lead with goals from Mateo Silvetti just before halftime (46’) and Germán Berterame in the second half (54’). The final equalizer was struck by Adri Mehmeti, who found the back of the net after a clever play in the 76th minute.
Miami’s equalizer came from a fantastic move as Mateo Silvetti turned in a cross from Rodrigo De Paul, sending the ball past keeper Ethan Horvath.
Despite having multiple opportunities to secure a victory, Inter Miami could not convert their 16 attempts at goal, with 7 shots on target and 9 off target.
Dylan Nealis of New York Red Bulls was named Man of the Match, showcasing strong defensive skills as he intercepted 5 balls and cleared 14 dangerous situations.
Meanwhile, Mateo Silvetti solidified his importance to Inter Miami, scoring one goal and completing 42 successful passes while attempting three shots on goal.
Inter Miami’s head coach, Javier Mascherano, set up a 4-5-1 formation with Dayne St. Clair in goal; Ian Fray, Maximiliano Falcón, Micael, and Sergio Reguilón in defense; Mateo Silvetti, Rodrigo De Paul, Yannick Bright, Telasco Segovia, and Lionel Messi in midfield; and Germán Berterame leading the attack.
On the other side, Michael Bradley’s squad fielded a 4-3-3 formation with Ethan Horvath as the goalkeeper; Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, Dylan Nealis, Robert Voloder, and Matthew Dos Santos in the defensive line; Ronald Donkor, Adri Mehmeti, and Emil Forsberg in midfield; and Cade Cowell, Julian Hall, and Jorge Ruvalcaba up front.
