The scoring was opened by John Kennedy, who found the back of the net at the 19th minute of the first half, followed closely by Hércules’s effort just before halftime at the 48th minute. The second half continued to favor Fluminense, culminating in Rodrigo Castillo’s brilliant strike at the 37th minute of the second period, making it 3-0. Corinthians managed to reduce their deficit with a goal from André Dias at the 43rd minute of the second half, but it was not enough to turn the tide of the match.
Rodrigo Castillo electrified the supporters with his spectacular goal in the second half, firing a powerful shot past goalkeeper Kauê de Souza Camargo after receiving a cross from Mattheus Martinelli.
Fluminense nearly extended their lead further when Kevin Serna hit the post shortly before the end of the first half, at the 47th minute.
Hércules was instrumental for Fluminense, notching one goal and registering two shots on target, while John Kennedy also contributed significantly, scoring once and attempting six shots at goal.
Manager Luis Zubeldía opted for a 4-5-1 formation, featuring Fábio in goal; a defensive line of Samuel Xavier, Jemmes, Juan Freytes, and Renê; a midfield comprised of Hércules, Mattheus Martinelli, Jefferson Savarino, Luciano Acosta, and Kevin Serna; and John Kennedy leading the attack.
Conversely, Corinthians, guided by Dorival Júnior, deployed a 4-5-1 setup with Kauê manning the goal; Matheuzinho, Gustavo Henrique, Gabriel Paulista, and Matheus Bidu in defense; André Dias, Allan, Charles, Rodrigo Garro, and Breno Bidon in midfield; and Yuri Alberto up front.
