The contest saw Toluca FC take the lead with a goal from Jesús Angulo just after halftime at the 46th minute. However, Atlas responded quickly, leveling the score with a strike from Víctor Ríos less than two minutes later, at the 48th minute.
Despite Toluca having the upper hand in attempts on goal (with 10 shots on target, 2 hitting the post, and 9 off target), they were unable to secure all three points at home.
