In the first match of the Apertura, Unión de Santa Fe faced a tough challenge, ultimately losing 4-3 to Gimnasia. Emilse Albornos showcased her talent with two goals, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory for the visitors.
The home team opened the scoring with Micaela Adorno finding the net at the 39th minute of the first half. Just before the half-time whistle, Lali Esquivel doubled Gimnasia’s lead in stoppage time, bringing the score to 2-0. Unión fought back, with Marilyn Coronel scoring in the 29th minute and Emilse Albornos responding shortly after, making it 2-2 by the end of the first half.
The second half saw more drama as Abril Coronel put Gimnasia back in front at the 81st minute. Albornos struck again for Unión in the 82nd minute, but the excitement did not stop there. Anahí Arias netted a last-minute goal for Gimnasia, sealing the game with a final score of 4-3.
Looking ahead, Gimnasia will travel to face San Luis FC in their next match, while Unión will host Banfield at their home ground, Estadio 15 de Abril.
Currently, Gimnasia sits in third place with 3 points, while Unión de Santa Fe is yet to earn points, landing in twelfth position in the tournament.
