Match Report

Independiente achieved a narrow 1-0 victory against Platense in a closely-contested match held at the Ciudad de Vicente López stadium this afternoon, part of the fourth round of the Apertura tournament.

Santiago Montiel came to the fore for the Rojo, scoring the sole goal of the match in the 63rd minute, showcasing his striking prowess. Independiente had a chance to extend their lead late in the game, but Luciano Cabral’s shot hit the post in the dying moments, specifically at the 94th minute.

Montiel was undoubtedly the standout player, contributing not only with a goal but also by making four attempts on goal and successfully completing 12 passes throughout the match.

On the defensive end, Kevin Lomónaco played a pivotal role by clearing six dangerous balls from his area, ensuring Platense struggled to find any offensive rhythm.

Platense’s head coach, Walter Zunino, implemented a 4-5-1 formation featuring Matías Borgogno in goal, with a defensive line comprising Juan Ignacio Saborido, Ignacio Vázquez, Eugenio Raggio, and Tomás Silva.
