CF Monterrey’s goals came from Sergio Canales (26′ 1H) and Luca Orellano (78′ 2H), while Tijuana found the net through Alonso Aceves (3′ 1H, own goal) and Kevin Castañeda (60′ 2H, penalty).
The opening goal arrived early for the visitors, with Alonso Aceves inadvertently scoring an own goal just 3 minutes into the match. However, the home team equalized halfway through the first half, thanks to a superb play from Sergio Canales, who received a cross from Oliver Torres and fired a shot past goalkeeper José Rodríguez Romero.
In a near miss just before the halftime break, Kevin Castañeda’s shot hit the post, preventing Tijuana from regaining the lead.

Tijuana’s manager, Sebastián Abreu, set his team up in a 4-4-2 formation with Antonio Rodríguez in goal; Rafael Fernández, Unai Bilbao, Jackson Porozo, and Pablo Ortíz forming the defensive line; Iván Tona, Kevin Castañeda, Ignacio Rivero, and Ramiro Árciga in the midfield; and Adonis Preciado and Mourad El Ghezouani up front.
