This Thursday, Vélez snatched a narrow victory against Instituto at La Gloria’s home ground, claiming the three points in the opening match of the Apertura league. Just before the final whistle, in the 90th minute, Tobías Andrada turned the tide of the match with a decisive goal that sealed the win for Vélez.
Diego Sosa had a golden opportunity to level the score for Instituto in the 54th minute, but his shot hit the post, leaving the home crowd in disbelief.
Tobías Andrada was undoubtedly the standout performer on the pitch, with his goal proving vital for the Fortín. Alongside him, goalkeeper Álvaro Montero delivered an impressive display by saving five shots and thwarting Instituto’s attempts.
Instituto’s coach, Daniel Oldrá, opted for a 3-6-1 formation, with Manuel Roffo guarding the net and a defensive line consisting of Leonel Mosevich, Jonathan Galván, and Fernando Alarcón.
