In the second round of the Clausura, Cruz Azul defeated Atlas 2-0 at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium. Gabriel Fernández opened the scoring for Cruz Azul in the 7th minute, while José Paradela guaranteed the win with a goal in the 28th minute of the first half.
The breakthrough for Cruz Azul came early in the match, as Gabriel Fernández produced a fantastic individual effort on the right side. His powerful shot found the bottom right corner of the net, leaving the Atlas goalkeeper with no chance.
Gabriel Fernández was undoubtedly the man of the match, contributing one goal and making five attempts on goal. José Paradela also shone at Cuauhtémoc Stadium, scoring once and threatening the opposing goal on three occasions.
Cruz Azul’s coach, Nicolás Larcamón, opted for a 3-4-3 formation featuring Andrés Gudiño in goal; Willer Ditta, Erik Lira, and Gonzalo Piovi in defence; Jorge Sánchez, Jeremy Márquez, Agustín Palavecino, and Rodolfo Rotondi in midfield; and a forward trio of José Paradela, Gabriel Fernández, and Carlos Rodríguez.
On the other hand, Atlas, led by Diego Cocca, lined up in a 5-4-1 formation with Camilo Vargas defending the net; Gustavo Ferrareis, Gaddi Aguirre, Manuel Capasso, Rodrigo Schlegel, and Jorge Rodríguez in defence; Diego Gonzalez, Aldo Rocha, Paulo Ramírez, and Mateo García in midfield; and Uros Djurdjevic as the lone striker.
