The highly anticipated clash between Pumas UNAM and Querétaro concluded with a 1-1 draw during the inaugural match of the Clausura season, held at the Olímpico Universitario stadium.
Pumas UNAM struck first, taking the lead with a goal from Adalberto Carrasquilla in the 49th minute of the game. However, Querétaro responded swiftly, with Mateo Coronel equalizing the score just 26 minutes later, marking his name on the scoreboard.
Coronel’s goal was a result of a well-executed team play. After receiving a precise cross from Jean Unjanque, the Querétaro forward found the back of the net from inside the penalty area.
Mateo Coronel emerged as the standout player of the match, scoring one goal and firing off five shots on target. Meanwhile, Adalberto Carrasquilla also played a significant role, contributing a goal for Pumas UNAM.
Pumas’ head coach Efraín Juárez opted for a 4-3-3 formation featuring Keylor Navas as the goalkeeper; with Rodrigo López, Rubén Duarte, Nathanael Ananias, and Álvaro Angulo forming the defensive line. The midfield was shaped by Adalberto Carrasquilla, César Garza, and Alan Medina. Pedro Vite, Juninho Vieira, and Jordan Carrillo spearheaded the attack.

The midfield consisted of Jhojan Julio, Santiago Homenchenko, Jean Unjanque, and Lucas Rodríguez, while Michael Carcelén and Ali Ávila led the forward line.

Looking ahead, Pumas will travel to face Tigres, while Querétaro will host Tijuana in their next fixtures.
