On the Ecuadorian side, Hernán Galíndez also delivered a remarkable performance, keeping a clean sheet against the Canadian attack.
Canada’s head coach, Jesse Marsch, opted for a 4-4-2 formation, featuring St. Clair in goal, with a defensive line made up of Niko Sigur, Joel Waterman, Kamal Miller, and Richie Laryea.
