In an impressive display of football, Toluca FC triumphed over Querétaro by a score of 4-0 at the Estadio Nemesio Díez. The match, part of Liga MX’s 13th round, showcased a dominant performance from the Red Devils under the guidance of coach Antonio Mohamed.
The scoring began early, with Nicolás Castro putting Toluca ahead just 14 minutes into the match. Paulinho quickly followed suit, doubling the lead with a goal in the 21st minute. Alexis Vega added another one for the home team in the 28th minute, establishing a commanding 3-0 lead before halftime. The final touch came from Jesús Angulo, who sealed the deal with a goal in the 65th minute, culminating the rout.
Querétaro had moments to celebrate, but they were often thwarted by their own misfortune. Diego Reyes hit the post twice, denying the visitors any chance to get back into the match.
Paulinho stood out as the player of the match, scoring one goal and taking six shots on goal. Jesús Angulo also made significant contributions, finding the net once and having two shots on target.
Coach Antonio Mohamed set up his team in a 4-5-1 formation, with Hugo González in goal; a solid backline comprised of Santiago Simón, Bruno Méndez, Everardo López, and Jesús Gallardo; and a midfield consisting of Marcel Ruiz, Franco Romero, Jesús Angulo, Nicolás Castro, and Alexis Vega, leaving Paulinho as the solo striker.
Querétaro, managed by Benjamín Mora, utilized a similar 4-5-1 formation, featuring Guillermo Allison as goalkeeper and a defense formed by Jaime Gómez, Diego Reyes, Santiago Homenchenko, and Omar Mendoza. The midfield included Ángel Zapata, Lucas Rodríguez, Rodrigo Bogarín, Eduardo Armenta, and Jonathan Perlaza, with Ali Ávila leading the attack.
The match’s officiating was handled by referee Luis Santander Aguirre.
Looking ahead, Toluca FC will face Tijuana next, while Querétaro will host Chivas at Estadio La Corregidora. Currently, Toluca tops the league with 31 points, while Querétaro stands at 11 points, sitting in sixteenth place in the standings.
