In the 12th round of the Clausura, Sarmiento secured a crucial away victory on Sunday against River Plate. The only goal of the match came in the 29th minute from Iván Morales, who effectively sealed the fate of the game for the visitors.
Despite the defeat, River Plate dominated possession with a staggering 68% and registered 28 attempts on goal compared to Sarmiento’s fewer efforts. They came close to equalizing when Paulo Díaz’s powerful shot rattled the crossbar.
