Huachipato clinched a spot in the final of the Copa Chile, securing a 4-2 victory against Audax Italiano in the second semifinal match on Sunday. The star of the night was Lionel Altamirano, who scored twice during the match, netting goals at the 26th and 39th minutes of the first half. Renzo Malanca and Maximiliano Gutiérrez also contributed to the scoreline for Huachipato, finding the back of the net in the second half.
For Audax Italiano, Eduardo Vargas opened the scoring early with a goal in the 12th minute, and Leonardo Valencia added another with a penalty kick at the 38th minute of the second half. However, Valencia’s chances of equalizing were thwarted when he missed a penalty in the dying minutes of the game.
Altamirano’s standout performance earned him the title of the match’s best player, as he not only scored twice but also managed two shots on goal. Maximiliano Gutiérrez was another key player, contributing with one goal.
Huachipato’s head coach, Jaime García, deployed a 4-3-3 formation, featuring Rodrigo Odriozola in goal, a defensive line of Maicol León, Benjamín Gazzolo, Rafael Caroca, and Renzo Malanca, while Claudio Sepúlveda, Nicolás Vargas, and Jimmy Martínez anchored the midfield. The attacking trio consisted of Maximiliano Gutiérrez, Lionel Altamirano, and Cris Martínez.
On the flip side, Audax Italiano, managed by Juan José Ribera, also opted for a 4-3-3 setup, with Tomás Ahumada in goal. The match, officiated by referee Gastón Philippe Noriega, took place at the Huachipato-CAP Acero Stadium. After losing the first leg 0-1, Huachipato’s triumph grants them the opportunity to face the winner of the other semifinal between Deportes Limache and D. La Serena in the decisive final, set to take place on Thursday, November 20.
