On Saturday, at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, Bologna faced Genoa in a gripping Serie A match that ended in a 2-1 victory for the hosts. Genoa took the lead early in the second half with a goal from Mikael Ellertsson in the 62nd minute. However, Bologna staged a remarkable comeback, scoring twice in quick succession with goals from Santiago Castro and Riccardo Orsolini.
The standout moment came when Ellertsson found the back of the net after a brilliant play from the right, delivering a shot into the top left corner that left Bologna’s goalkeeper helpless.
As the match neared its conclusion, Bologna came close to taking the lead when Riccardo Orsolini struck the post in the 89th minute, narrowly missing the opportunity to seal the game sooner.
Orsolini’s impressive performance not only earned him a goal but also made him the best player on the pitch, as he attempted six shots throughout the game. Meanwhile, Santiago Castro also made significant contributions, registering a goal and taking three shots against Genoa.
Bologna’s coach, Vincenzo Italiano, opted for a 4-5-1 formation, featuring Lukasz Skorupski in goal; a defensive line consisting of Lorenzo De Silvestri, Martin Vitik, Torbjørn Heggem, and Juan Miranda; a midfield with Remo Freuler, Nikola Moro, Riccardo Orsolini, Federico Bernardeschi, and Benjamín Domínguez; and Santiago Castro leading the attack.
On the opposing side, Genoa, led by Patrick Vieira, also deployed a 4-5-1 strategy with Nicola Leali as the goalkeeper, supported by Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Leo Östigard, Johan Vásquez, and Aarón Martín in defense; a midfield comprising Morten Frendrup, Patrizio Masini, Mikael Ellertsson, Ruslan Malinovskyi, and Vítor Oliveira; and Lorenzo Colombo as the striker.
The match was officiated by referee Giuseppe Collu.
Looking ahead, Bologna will travel to face Lecce next, while Genoa will host Lazio. Currently, Bologna sits in eighth place with 6 points, whereas Genoa remains in seventeenth with only 2 points in the league.
