On Friday night, San Diego FC triumphed over Nashville SC with a convincing 2-0 victory at Snapdragon Stadium. The home team set the pace for victory early in the second half with Hirving Lozano opening the scoring in the 52nd minute. Anders Dreyer then doubled the lead just a minute later, extending San Diego’s advantage to two goals.
Despite having a chance to make it 3-0, San Diego’s Anders Dreyer missed a penalty in the 82nd minute, preventing further damage to Nashville’s hopes.
The standout player of the match was undoubtedly Hirving Lozano, who not only scored but also took three shots on target, demonstrating his offensive prowess. Goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega also played a crucial role, making four important saves to keep Nashville off the scoresheet.
San Diego FC’s manager, Michael Anthony Varas, lined up his team in a 4-3-3 formation, with Sisniega in goal; Oscar Verhoeven, Manu Duah, Ian Pilcher, and Luca Bombino in defense; Onni Valakari, Jeppe Tverskov, and Luca de la Torre in midfield; and Lozano, Dreyer, and Tomás Ángel leading the attack.
On the other side, Nashville SC, under B. J. Callaghan, opted for a 4-4-2 formation with Joseph Willis as goalkeeper; a defensive line featuring Andy Nájar, Jeisson Palacios, Walker Zimmerman, and Daniel Lovitz; Jonathan Pérez, Patrick Yazbek, Edvard Tagseth, and Alex Muyl in midfield; and Hany Mukhtar along with Sam Surridge up front.
