Juventude triumphed over Sport Recife with a convincing 2-0 victory thanks to a stellar performance by forward Gilberto, who netted both goals in the match held this Monday. Gilberto opened the scoring with a powerful header just 11 minutes into the first half. He later sealed the victory with a second goal just 3 minutes into the second half.
Sport Recife’s Rafael Thyere had a chance to pull one back in the 54th minute, but his attempt crashed off the crossbar, denying them a goal.
Despite creating more clear-cut chances and registering a total of 20 shots (12 on target, 1 hitting the post, and 7 going wide), Sport Recife lacked the finishing touch, which ultimately led to their downfall against a disciplined Juventude side.
