The Atanasio Girardot stadium was the battleground for an exhilarating clash between Independiente Medellín and Santa Fe in the final, with the visiting team celebrating a hard-fought victory of 2-1. The match began with Independiente Medellín taking the upper hand, as Francisco Fydriszewski opened the scoring in the 17th minute of the first half. The excitement in the stands, however, was short-lived when Santiago Mosquera leveled the match with a powerful header just 30 minutes into the game.
Santa Fe completed their comeback in the 78th minute of the second half, courtesy of a fantastic strike from Hugo Rodallega. Despite the efforts from Medellín to regain control, time was not on their side, and the match concluded with Santa Fe as champions.
Hugo Rodallega was undoubtedly the standout performer of the encounter. The forward from Santa Fe exhibited a stellar display, scoring one goal and attempting four shots on target. On the opposing side, Francisco Fydriszewski also shone brightly, netting one goal and attempting three shots for Independiente Medellín.
Independiente Medellín’s coach, Alejandro Restrepo, set his team up in a 3-5-2 formation with Washington Aguerre in goal; Jhon Palacios, José Ortiz, and Daniel Londoño forming the defense; and Jherson Mosquera, Leider Berrío, Homer Martínez, Baldomero Perlaza, and Francisco Chaverra in midfield, with Brayan León and Francisco Fydriszewski leading the attack.
Conversely, Santa Fe’s coach Jorge Bava opted for a 4-3-3 setup. The team featured Andrés Mosquera in goal; a defense line made up by Elvis Perlaza, Emanuel Olivera, Víctor Moreno, and Christian Mafla; a midfield trio of Jhojan Torres, Daniel Torres, and Yilmar Velásquez; with Santiago Mosquera, Hugo Rodallega, and Omar Fernández in the front line.
