The Portland Timbers and San José Earthquakes played to a 1-1 stalemate in their Week 17 clash of the MLS at Providence Park.
Portland took the lead in the second half with a goal from Juan Mosquera in the 70th minute. Following an assist from Felipe Mora, Mosquera placed the ball perfectly into the bottom right corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
However, just two minutes into stoppage time, Preston Judd stepped up to level the score for the Earthquakes with a well-timed finish.
Earlier in the match, Vitor Costa had a promising opportunity to give the Timbers the lead but hit the post in the 51st minute, which proved to be a critical moment in the game.
Preston Judd was undoubtedly the standout player for the Earthquakes, notably scoring the equalizer. Finn Surman from Portland also shone defensively, successfully clearing four dangerous balls.
The Timbers, led by coach Dave Van den Bergh, utilized a 4-3-3 formation with James Pantemis in goal, and a defensive line comprising Finn Surman, Dario Zuparic, Juan Mosquera, and Jimer Fory. The midfield featured David da Costa, Diego Chará, and David Ayala, while Felipe Mora, Antony Alves, and Santiago Moreno formed the attacking front.
On the other hand, San José Earthquakes, under coach Bruce Arena, opted for a 3-6-1 setup, with Daniel guarding the net. The defense included Rodrigues, Dave Romney, and Daniel Munie, supported by a midfield of Ian Harkes, Amahl Pellegrino, Cristian Espinoza, Dejuan Jones, Beau Leroux, and Vitor Costa, while Cristian Arango led the attack.
Match referee Víctor Rivas oversaw the encounter.
Next up, the Timbers will travel to face Toronto FC, while the Earthquakes will be visitors against FC Dallas.
