On Friday, Plaza Colonia faced off against Cerro in a thrilling encounter for the 4th round of the Intermedio group A, which ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
Both teams showcased their attacking prowess, generating numerous opportunities at both ends of the pitch. Plaza Colonia struck first, with Cristian Barros finding the back of the net in the 7th minute of the first half. However, Cerro responded well, with goals from Agustín Miranda and Máximo Alonso turning the tide. Two well-placed shots in the 25th minute of the first half and at the 45th minute of the second half put Cerro ahead 2-1.
The match seemed to be slipping away from Plaza Colonia until Santiago Otegui managed to level the score with a crucial goal just five minutes into the second half (50’).
Máximo Alonso was the standout performer, netting one goal for Cerro. On the other side, Santiago Otegui was instrumental for Plaza Colonia, also scoring a critical equalizer.
